Meet the Team
Dr. J. Larry Agle
Dr. Larry Agle was born into veterinary medicine. He was assisting his father with his large animal practice in central Ohio at a very early age. A degree in Agriculture from the Ohio State University in 1988 led to veterinary school and a DVM in 1992. After graduation, Dr. Agle moved to California and worked on Thoroughbred racehorses. He moved back to Ohio to work at Stachowski Veterinary Clinic for one year, planning to return home to work with his father. That plan changed when he purchased the clinic and hired his dad to work with him in Northeast Ohio. Buckeye Veterinary Service was founded in 1999 and has grown into a four-veterinarian equine practice providing both ambulatory and clinical treatments.
Dr. Agle has a special interest in lameness, reproduction, and alpacas. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and rooting on his Buckeyes!
Dr. Thomas Shaw
Dr. Thomas Shaw joined Buckeye Veterinary Service in September of 2015. Prior to joining the team at Buckeye, he worked extensively with Standardbreds at The Meadows Racetrack in western Pennsylvania and serviced everything from miniature donkeys on up to Clydesdales in south-eastern Ohio.
After graduating from The Ohio State University in 2011, Dr. Shaw completed his internship at Rhinebeck Equine L.L.P., located in the Hudson Valley of eastern New York. As an intern, Dr. Shaw worked closely with Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, Standardbred and Thoroughbred racehorses in a specialized referral hospital to gain valuable experience in sport horse and emergency medicine.
Dr. Shaw's admiration for horses started as a young child growing up riding Hunter/Jumper horses with his mom and two sisters in northeast Ohio. In his spare time, he enjoys running, tennis, and spending time with his family and friends.
Holly
Holly joined the Buckeye Team in 2009 after graduating from John Carroll University and has loved every minute of it. While she does not have a horse of her own at the moment, her love for them has not changed since her first horse at four years old. Her life outside of BVS includes spoiling her two dogs, being outside, playing soccer, and traveling any chance she gets.
Rachel
Rachel is one of our office assistants and has been with Buckeye since 2014. She rode her first horse before the age of one, and now enjoys riding her Quarter Horse mare named Mollie. Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband Jacob and their adorable daughter Laynie (born July 2023), and spoiling their two adopted pitbulls, Tyson and Ivy. They also like to go on UTV trips to West Virginia and surrounding states. Rachel likes helping new and current clients with their horses, scheduling appointments, managing our wellness program, and attending to paperwork.
Kaleigh
Kaleigh is a registered Vet Tech, who graduated from KSU's RVT program in 2022. She joined the Buckeye family as an intern during the senior year of her program and never left! In her free time she enjoys spending time with her pitbull Sherman & her two cats Gus & Hazel
Dr. Ken Keckler
Dr. Ken Keckler was learning to ride a pony as he was learning to walk, and wanted to be a veterinarian since 6th grade. Graduating from the Ohio State University with a degree in Agriculture in 1987 and Veterinary School in 1991, he came to Northeast Ohio and has been here ever since. His career has included everything from Standardbred racehorses and brood mares, to draft and miniature horses. Currently he sees mostly performance horses, dressage and hunter/jumpers, with an interest in lameness diagnostics and preventative medicine.
Dr. Keckler met his wife, Stephanie, on the first day of vet school. She is a small animal veterinarian working in Ravenna. Ken enjoys live theater and music, and he sings and plays guitar at his church. He bleeds scarlet and gray - Go Buckeyes!
Dr. Noah Bianco
A native of North Carolina, Dr. Noah Bianco grew up on a farm in Hillsborough, just outside of Chapel Hill, where he was involved with a variety of equine activities from a very young age. Noah attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he earned a B.S. in Biology. After leaving the coast, Dr. Bianco completed a master’s degree in Physiology at North Carolina State University and then received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, he moved to Louisiana to pursue Thoroughbred racetrack practice. Dr. Bianco worked at Appalachian Veterinary Services in Virginia as an ambulatory associate for three years before moving to Ohio and joining Buckeye Veterinary Service in 2022.Noah’s professional interests include preventative and sport-horse medicine as well as podiatry. In his free time, Noah enjoys spending time outdoors, home improvement projects, and spending time with his wife, Molly, and their dogs.
Gail
Gail is one of our RVTs. She graduated from Stautzenberger College in 2012 and joined our Buckeye family short after in 2013. In her free time, she enjoys spoiling her two dogs, Murphy and Charlie. Fun fact about Gail - in October of 2022, she was married at our clinic!
Rhianna
Rhianna has always had a passion for animals with a particular love for horses. She moved from Cleveland to the highly horse populated Chagrin Falls/Bainbridge area when she was seven years old and started horseback riding when she was twelve. Rhianna started working as a farm hand and rider for one of the local farms just out of high school, primarily riding dressage. She enjoys reading, video games, cuddling with her Bearded Dragon and hiking with her dog. Rhianna joined the Buckeye Vet Service team in 2014, and has greatly enjoyed getting to know the clients, their wonderful animals and our local equine community.
